Wanted to reblog this, because I spent more time today than I’ll admit trying to get the VirtualBox software I was using getting the virtual machine to start from Kali Linux. If you are having problems starting your VirtualBox virtual machine in Kali linux, remove the machine and reinstall following netsecuritystuff’s two simple instructions.

Ive been working on installing virtualbox in kali for days now. I’ve tried the normal way that obviously doesnt work, and this and many other help offered, but It won’t install due to dependancy problems. Yes I’ve purged everything, checked in package manager nothing. Still fails.

        Hi David,

Let me know the error or message you are getting when trying to install virtualbox. Also let me know the version of kali linux you are running. In my case since I upgraded from Kali 1.0.5 I had to use a specific version of virtualbox – virtualbox-4.2_4.2.18-88780

  5. Just follow this method, don’t use “apt-get install virtualbox” and don’t download the .deb and don’t install it with “gdebi virtualbox-4.3_*****.deb” : it will simply not work!!!

If you have done it purge everything and follow this method
